Leader of the Opposition and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) President Chandra Mohan Patowary today demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and dismissal of the ministry for having alleged links with terrorists of the North Cachar Hills. On the other hand, Assam Ministers Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and Rakibul Hussain, at a separate press conference, denied the news reports saying that they were false. Gogoi also dared the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to prove the allegation. However, the Opposition said that NIA was not allowed to take its own course and crucial witnesses were not allowed to be interrogated by it, as reported by UNI. According to the reports, the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council development fund was siphoned off for four consecutive years using the terrorists as cover and a clique of bureaucrats and ministers aws responsible. According to the reports, Rs 1000 crores were looted by a clique of Minister-Bureaucrats and Raj Bhawan using the terrorists as decoy in the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council between 2004-2009. The reports quoted a secret NIA probe, which was allegedly grounded by the Congress to save their government in Assam.
