Normal traffic on NH-39 resumes

With the end of the economic blockade of the Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) on Tuesday midnight, normal traffic on Imphal-Mao section of the NH-39 resumed after 16 days of disturbances. SDSA, late Tuesday, announced that the economic blockade stir of the body has been called-off after the student’s body and the Manipur government came to an understanding seeking an amicable solution on the issue put up by the body. It maybe mentioned that, the SDSA imposed the indefinite blockade on the Imphal-Mao section of the NH-39 on February 1 strongly protesting against government’s failure to translate agreed demand of making improvement of the deteriorated condition of the highway. With the end of the blockade, normal traffic along the stretch resumed Wednesday. However, most of the petrol pumps in Imphal area continued to be shut down citing that there were shortage of petrol (in their stock).
