2 arrested for smuggling drugs

Department of excise narcotic enforcement cell Dimapur seized 250grams brown sugar at Khermahal following a tip-off and arrested two persons for illegal possession and trafficking of narcotics drugs. The arrested persons identified as Sanjay, son of Gulab Rai and Rakesh, son of Uma Rai, permanent resident of Muzzafarpur (Bihar) have been booked under relevant section of NDPS Act ’85 and remanded to judicial custody. The seized drug has been reportedly smuggled from Bihar for sale in Dimapur and its value according to international B/markets was estimated to be around Rs.12,50,000. Superintendent of Excise (NC), C. Ntsemo Lotha has informed that case has been put under active investigation and more arrests were likely to be made. The seizure of the drugs was made under the command led by AIE Thathang, H/C Chingmak and Constables Khriesizo and Senka. Meanwhile, Personnel of Khuzama Check Post seized 220 kg ganja from a black bolero NL 01-1653 on Wednesday at around 7.45 am. The ganja was reportedly detected and seized from the possessions of the accused identified as Kote Lasu of Thetsumi village and Nguleipe Kapfo of Pfutseromi village.
