A programme on piggery was jointly organized by four Farmers’ Clubs of Amaluma, Dhansiripar, Doyapur, Ganeshnagar villages at Amaluma village on February 16 facilitated by Prodigals’ Home.
Experts from Dimapur district veterinary department and KVK, Dimapur imparted training on the piggery and poultry management to 87 farmers.
In the programme, topic on piggery management was deliberated by Dr. Inato Zhimomi from District Vet. Dept and Dr. Moaakum Sangtam from KVK.
Dr. Inato pointed out that at present 60% - 70% of pigs were imported from outside the state for consumption which when calculated goes up to Rs. 2.5 crores.
For which, he urged the farmers to rear pigs and contribute to the state and increase their income.
Dr. Moaakum stressed on the importance of rearing breeders, he also stated that maintaining records by the farmers on individual pigs was very important.
Veterinary Dr. Sungkam from Dimapur District Veterinary spoke on poultry - housing management, management of chicks, feeds formalization and the economic benefits.
NABARD manager, Bendang Aier, KVK programme coordinator, Dr.Anamika, and Nungsang, Senior Branch Manager, NSCB Main Branch, were other resource persons for the program.
