4 die in Jhum fire

Wild jhum fire has reportedly charred four persons including a minor to death in Shingjung village near Noklak town Thursday. According to a report received here, three persons including a minor were charred to death on the spot while another succumb to injuries later at Noklak CHC. The incident took place at around at around between 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.Thursday while the victims along with villagers, had gone to cut off fire to prevent the further spread of fire. They were, however, caught in the inferno and charred to death. A communication received from ADC Tuensang Sotsula said the deceased were identified as S. Monshai (37), wife of late Mushiu; Temtsi (27), son of Chetei of Choklangan village and Shongmo (12), daughter of Thongpang of Sanglao village and Nechaiu (35), wife of Pathong of Sanglao village, who later succumbed to burn injuries in Noklak CHC. Meanwhile, the minister for soil & water conservation &land resources P. Longon and parliamentary secretary fisheries, relief & rehabilitation, printing & stationary S. Heno have expressed shock over the incident and conveyed their deepest condolence to the bereaved family members.The two have also offered an amount of Rs. 40,000 to the next of kin of the victims as immediate relief.
