A road stretch from signal junction to St. Paul school about half a kilometer paved by the civic body under DMC year of development was inaugurated on Thursday.
The programme was attended by Rev. Sr. Annie Kurichiel, provincial superior of Dimapur province and Amenla Yepthomi lady wife of Akuto Yepthomi, DMC chairperson Khekaho Assumi and other DMC members along with the school authorities, sisters, students of St. Paul School and colony residents.
DMC, chairperson Khekaho Assumi speaking at the inaugural function said the entire people of the colony especially the St. Paul’s School had personally requested them in paving the road stretch many times even in the past as the road was full of potholes which caused great inconveniences to school children.
He said that due to the limited funds and lack of resources available in the DMC, the road could not be constructed on time but sensing the great need as the locality has reputed schools such as St. Paul’s School and Honili School, the DMC took the road on priority.
Sr. Annie Kurichiel, provincial superior who spoke on the occasion appreciated the Dimapur municipal council for undertaking and constructing the road leading to the school and to the colony.
She further thanked the DMC chairperson, especially the DMC councilor Simon Yepthomi and his family for taking great initiatives in completing the road successfully which would benefit thousands of school going children not only to the St. Paul’s but also to the other schools of the area.
The provincial also thanked DMC councilor, Simon Yepthomi for taking the initiative personally in completing the work for the welfare of the area and to the school.
Further the DMC chief also thanked the landlord of the area Akuto Yepthomi for the co-operation and encouragement and also the authorities of St. Paul School for the blessing and prayers in making the project successful.
