Improve lives by good health not income: DC Tuensang

Deputy Commissioner Tuensang Y.L. Jami on Wednesday, called upon the people of Tuensang to improve human lives by not only enhancing income but by maintaining good health and being knowledgeable to participate in community life. The DC was speaking at inaugural programme on sensitization of village level functionaries on human development at Town hall Tuensang. Stating that developmental activities in villages were depended on VCC and VDB members, Jami called upon the members to utilize various scheme in a proper way for the welfare of the society. The DC also said ‘production and culture’ was the most important factors in the process of human development. Speaking as resources person Dr. Kedise Sr. lecturer SIRD shared on the various topic which included human development issues 1991-2008, equality, sustainable livelihood, village micro planning and concept and gender budget. Also speaking as resources person Amenla, Sr. lecturer SIRD, who spoke on the poverty alleviation said poverty alleviation income approach defined poverty in terms of inability to achieve minimum income necessary to meet basic ends of life. She also explained on various subjects to participants including, decentralization participatory planning and national development policy. Project Director DRDA Tuensang Imtiangshi also spoke at the programme while DPO Tuensang Tsasepi Sangtam proposed vote of thanks. The sensitization of village level functionaries on human development under UNDP- GOI Project was organized by planning and coordination department and state institute of rural development. Hundreds of participants from eight blocks under Tuensang district have registered in the programme.
