Totsu village, which is 30 minutes away from Wokha town was inaugurated on Friday
Totsu area was inhabited since 2004 and the village was established in the year 2007.
Officially inaugurating the village as chief guest deputy commissioner, Wokha Wepretso Mero, lauded the villagers for their remarkable effort and concern for developing the village so far especially in the construction of a good village community hall. Calling upon the people to preserve flora and fauna and to maintain ecological balance for development, DC asserted that forest should not be destroyed or made barren in the name of bringing development.
Dwelling on the importance of taking up Horti and other agriculture related cultivation he said people should realize its importance and cultivation should be taken up in a planned manner for making the village prosperous and self sufficient economically.
On the development front he called upon the villagers to avoid creating unnecessary hurdles specifically mentioning land disputes which hamper developmental activities.
DC also appealed to the people to make Totsu a model village in the district and to strive for peace and prosperity.
Earlier, the chief guest unveiled an inaugural plague and a marketing shed in the new village. Short speeches were also delivered by chairman, Kyong Hoho, Yansathung Jami, Thunglamo Ovung Jt.Secy (Rtd), chairman Merayan village, Lokushen Tungu and K. Ovung.
Other highlight of the function included presentation of a folk song by Wokha Town Phiro Eloe Hoho.
