Spot verification of NH-155

Correspondent A team comprising of Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF), its federating units, ENPO officials, tribal bodies, ENWO unit officials, senior citizens, district administration, SIB team, media and public of eastern Nagaland Friday carried out spot verification of NH-155 Tuensang division under ENSF jurisdiction starting from Chichung to Tuensang town. The team while carrying out spot verification observed that the works were “unsatisfactory” as thin materials were applied on NH-155 road. They also discovered potholes and incomplete works in almost all first phase constructions. The general public of Tuensang cautioned that they would no longer tolerate step motherly treatment meted out to the people of far flung areas. The public have asked the contractors and responsible authorities to redress the problem immediately so as to restore peaceful environment. Verification team have question the authority responsible on why completion certificate was issued to first phase road construction, despite poor workmanship and violating contract norms. In connection with this, they have urged authority responsible to rectify the matter for the benefit of the public. During the site verification, the ENSF identified nine places of poor workmanship and where contract norms were not followed. Meanwhile, the ENSF, along with its federating units, ENPO and various tribal bodies would conduct verification of road condition in Kiphire division February 20. None of the contractors attended Friday’s spot verification.
