Pointing out that the students have been affected by the suspension of three teachers, the Post Graduate Students’ Union (PGSU) Kohima has demanded the vice chancellor, Nagaland University to immediately revoke the suspension order which he served against the three NUTA members. The suspended teachers included Prof. G. T. Thong, Dr. N. Venuh and Rosemary Dzuvichu. Threatening to take its own course of action if the demand was not met, PGSU president, Izuto Jimo and general secretary, Alise Sangtam in a joint statement said it has meticulously contemplated on the “illegal action” of the VC and found “no merit” on the suspensions. The PGSU observed that the suspensions were based on “fictitious allegation charges and not on genuine reason” and described it as a “suppressive policy of VC.” The PGSU also said despite the VC’s order to shift all the university offices to Lumami headquarter by February, no such arrangement was done till date.
