Amid stiff opposition from the seven Naga tribes to participate in any activity of Naga Council till certain matters were clarified, the installation and dedicatory programme of new executive team and councilors of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) was conducted Monday in its office, Nyamo Lotha road here.
Speaking at the installation programme, the newly elected NCD president Savi Liegise expressed gratitude to all tribal councilors, presidents, GBs and well wishers for reposing faith and confidence in him and his team.
The NCD president assured that they would work sincerely for the welfare of the all tribes, faith and community with justice and equality, particularly in Dimapur, a press note from NCD general secretary Ntsemo Ngullie stated today.
During the installation programme, the outgoing NCD joint secretary Thaban Rongmei handed over presidential file to newly elected NCD president Savi Liegise.
Dimapur district GB association president M.Y Ngullie, who also attended the programme along with 12 GBs, representing various tribes under Dimapur district, congratulated the new team and expressed their full cooperation in all the matters of public welfare.
Further, Naga Women Hoho Dimapur president Hukheli Wotsa; DNSU president Medovoi Medeo, and presidents of Dimapur Sumi Community and Mao Hoho Dimapur also expressed their confidence in the leadership of Savi Liegise.
They also thanked tribal councilors for re-electing Savi Liegise as Naga Council president for the second term. Former NCD general secretary Imti Ao also expressed confidence in the leadership of Savi Liegise.
Others who spoke at the programme included NCD councilors Vikato Zhimo, Joel Lohrü, Puni Modoli, Hukali, Tiala and W. Mero.
The programme was chaired by general secretary elect Ntsemo Ngullie; invocation prayer was pronounced by Kuda village Baptist Church pastor Rev. M. Sakhrie; introduction of new NCD executives and council members by councilor Kashiho Sangtam while dedication prayer upon new team was offered by Chakhesang Baptist Church, Dimapur pastor Rev. Dr. Weyiete Lohe.
Delivering vote of thanks, the NCD joint secretary elect Joseph Shingnaisui expressed gratitude to all the councilors, tribal leaders, GBs, Women Hoho, DNSU and well wishers for their support and cooperation.
