The Naga National Council (NNC) on Monday said that the making of Naga nation state cannot be airbrushed from history. In her message on the occasion of the 16th Tenyimi Day at LCS Building, Kohima which was read out by Tenyimi Peoples’ organization (TPO) general secretary, Benjamin Lorin, the NNC president Adino Phizo stated that like any other nation, Nagas have a constitutional government - Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN). She however regretted that there are some Nagas who think they are cleverer than anyone struggle to come to terms with the international norm that a nation could be represented only by a single government. She also reiterated the unremitting Indian occupation army militarized tyranny in the Naga country since 1954, followed by 1979/80 dark episode of treachery and that the cohesion of Naga society has been put through extreme provocation with the enemy driven by tribal jealously against an imagined, albeit false, Tenyimi ‘domination’ of Nagaland. She however lauded the Nagas for showing ample maturity and for not betraying the Nagas or attempting to trade the freedom of Naga nation and invited eternal disgrace. “Nagaland has weathered the enemy brazen bully against all the odds she said and thanked Almighty for sustaining the Naga and her land. Naga nation expects much from Tenyimi people to rise up to the challenge among the forefront in defending the independence of Nagaland”, she stated. Similarly, chief minister, Neiphiu Rio in his message reminded that TPO as an apex organization should usher in good relationship with other organizations and lead from the forefront to set an example to others. Speaking on the occasion, TPO president, Z.M Sekhose proclaimed that Tenyimi blood brothers consisting of Angami, Chakhesang, Impui Maram, Memei, Pochury, Poumai, Rengma, Thangal and Zeliangrong have realized the truth and came together as one which none could undo and that it would continue to remain till heaven and earth exist.
