Training women bodies on sanitation

The Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU), PHED on Tuesday organized a one-day training for women bodies on total sanitation campaign at Red Cross Conference Hall, Kohima. Representatives from Women Bodies- Watsu Mungdang ( Mokokchung District) , Rengma Mothers Association ( Kohima District), Zeliangrong Mupui Association ( Peren District), Chakhesang Women Welfare ( Phek District ), Pochury Mothers Association(part of Phek District ), Sumi Totimi Hoho Zunheboto ( STHZ) ( Zunheboto District ), Konyak Nyuyong Sheiko Khung (KNSK ) (Mon District ) and Angami Women Organization ( part of Kohima District) attended the training programme. Inaugurating the training programme, as chief guest PHED Minister Dr Ngangshi K. Ao said that the Naga women folks played a very important role in the Naga society and Naga women were sincere and committed in working at all levels. He also suggested that women folk take active part and involve themselves in all sectors. He also expressed happiness over the good response from the women bodies and hoped they would be able to create awareness at various levels on total sanitation campaign carried out by PHED department. Highlighting the objective of the training program, Er Kevisekho Kruse, Executive Director CCDU said that CCDU had drawn up various program for training of trainers and informed subsequent campaign through women bodies in all other districts of the State in phase manner, adding the training is part of the government's strategy to reach every part of the state with sanitation messages so as to completely eradicate the prevailing practice of open defecation, through creation of awareness. Earlier the function was chaired by Er J.Walter Longchar, SE, PHED ( M&I) , Kohima and Prayer was led by Rev. Dingu Kenye , Director, Development , CBCC. The Technical Sessions were addressed by -Er A. Kent and Er Bendangtola, while the sharing of Experience Sharing was given by Rev. Dingu Kenye ,Director, Development, CBCC and Er Mersen Ao, Project Er. Dimapur and followed by open discussion moderated by Moderator - Er Kevisekho Kruse, ED CCDU.
