The Government of Brazil will be organising International Conference of children and youth ‘Let’s Take Care of the Planet’ from June 5 to 10. India will be represented by 10-12 children in the age group of 12-15 years who are engaged in environment-related activities on the theme ‘Socio Environmental Global Changes with a focus on climate change’. NCERT has been entrusted the task of coordinating the selection of participants from India.
According to member secretary, state nodal officer (NGC) Rusovil John, selection of prospective participants would be done at two stages- first at the regional level and finally at the national level. NCERT proposes to hold the two-day regional level conference at the Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Shillong for the North Eastern states from February 22 to March 2 for selection to participate at National Level Conference at New Delhi which is proposed to be held from April 5-11. They would be accompanied by their respective eco club teachers.
Five students will be selected from among the eco club (NGC) members from Nagaland to participate at the Regional Institutes of Education (RIE) Shillong, Interested students have been requested to submit their proforma and write up in 200 words in any language on environmental activities done during 2009 on the theme ‘Socio- Environmental Global Changes, with a focus on climate change’ with a recent passport photograph through the Principal.
