In solidarity with the World Wetlands Day, Bethesda Youth Welfare Centre (BYWC) organized a program to commemorate the auspicious day at Centre for Community Transformation Conference Hall, Walford. Dimapur on February 2. The program was aimed to create more awareness among the people and to inculcate a sense of responsibility surrounding the environment.
In a brief message, W C Humtsoe, chief functionary of BYWC explained that every year World Wetlands Day is observed globally on February 2 since 1971.
He also said over the years scores of both governmental and non-governmental agencies as well as groups of concern citizens at all level of community have taken advantage of the opportunity to undertake action aimed at raising public awareness of the wetlands values and benefits in general.
