The 18 affiliated colleges of All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) said that by election ‘code of conduct’ framed by Election Commissioner (EC) was not based on the constitution and has demanded for re-election of the post of ANCSU president. Stating that despite strong opposition from the majority units, the EC had declared one ‘un-mandate candidate’ who was set up at the last hour without his own interest as elected unopposed to the post of president. A joint press release issued by president and general secretaries of Public College of Commerce, Unity College, Salt Christian College and Kilenkeba Memorial College stated that since election was conducted despite opposition from majority of the houses, it would not accept the election commission’s decision. Representatives of the four colleges have further demanded for re-election of president and election commission. It also urged the speaker to convene a meeting after HSLC, HSSLC and degree level examination are over. The 18 affiliated colleges have warned that it would de-affiliate from the union if demand for re election of ANCSU president was not considered.
