An NSCN (I-M) militant was arrested at Khonsa by the security force in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh in connection with the murder case of former Congress MP Wangcha Rajkumar. According to The Telegraph, the militant, a prime suspect in the case, has been identified as “sergeant major” Ramchang. Rajkumar was gunned down while playing badminton at Deomali in Tirap in December 2007. The case is being investigated by the CBI. “We received a communiqué from the police some time ago regarding the involvement of Ramchang in the assassination of the former MP. Since then, we had been hunting for him,” a 19 Assam Rifles official said. “On Sunday afternoon, on being informed by our sources that Ramchang had entered Khonsa market to carry out extortion, we immediately planned and launched an operation with assistance from the local police. After a thorough search, we located him. He tried to flee but our men arrested him.” Ramchang has been handed over to the police for interrogation. The security forces seized 200gm opium, 13 proxyvon tablets, a banned drug and recharge coupons from him and impounded a motorcycle.
