Assam University HoD History, Prof. Dr. T.H. Robert Tiba, hailing from Tumuyon Khullen, Senapati district, Manipur, who had gone for treatment for his fractured arm, died February 8 due to “sheer medical negligence”. He died of drug reaction at HOSMAT Hospital, Bangalore February 8 at around 8:20 p.m., the Naga Students’ Union, Bangalore (NSUB), in a statement, alleged Wednesday. According to NSUB, prof Robert, post surgery, had complained of some pain, following which, the doctors and nurses administered random medicines which eventually caused stiffness to his body and as a result the patient went into coma. Before his demise, the patient was kept at ICU for 11 days, they said. NSUB said the deceased family and Naga students in Bangalore would not tolerate such “cheap and inhuman deal.” “We have decided to approach all the concern Forums, Offices and Institutions to conduct proper investigation and justice be brought,” NSUB said, adding that FIR had been registered against the Hospital authority, for medical negligence. The deceased had met with road mishap in Assam and fractured his left arm January 25, last.
