Former BJP MP from Assam Narayan Barkatoki on Wednesday slammed the Congress led UPA government for the ‘sky rocketing price rise’ and compared it with a tsunami for most of the people especially those living below poverty line. Asserting that the public felt the pinch of the price rise, Barkatoki alleged that the central government has failed miserably in all aspects in protecting the interest of the common man. He said these during the stationary rally organized by the state BJP unit to protest against the price rise at supermarket on Wednesday afternoon. Further claming that the Congress led UPA government did have the necessary political will to address the issue, Narayan charged the UPA government of colluding with the middleman and ultimately leading to black marketing and hoarding. Alleging that the UPA leaders along with the PM has failed miserably in addressing the issue, the former BJP MP warned that it will have multiple affects in the economic condition in the country. In the course of his speech, Barkatoki also alleged the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) were rigged during the last elections and cautioned that the parties and candidates should understand the power of the electorates. Harping on the same lines, state BJP unit president M Chuba Imsong also blamed the UPA government for failing to protect the rights of the ‘aam admi’ as promised by them during their election campaign. Imsong also alleged that the government was anti-poor and called upon the people to raise their voices.
