Army bids farewell to Manipuri Jawan

Army bid farewell Thursday to the Army Jawan belonging of 2nd Assam Regiment, Thangsuan Lal, who was among 17 killed in the avalanche at Gulmarg in North Kashmir on last February 8. The lifeless body of the rifleman is survived by his wife and two minor children was transported by a special flight of the Indian Air Force to Imphal at 1.30 pm at Imphal Airport. Maj Gen DS Hooda of 57 Mountain Division led the army officers and troops, who were present at the Imphal Airport to receive the dead body. Columns of Assam Rifles, Indian Army and Assam Regiment offered last gun salute to the lifeless body of the soldier covered by tri-colour Indian national flag. Earlier the body of the jawan which was flown to Imphal airport was received by the relatives of the deceased from the airport, later, the dead body was taken to his native village Churchandpur district headquarters for the last rites.
