The Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) has served an extortion note demanding Rs two to three lakh each from petrol pumps owners in the three districts of Meghalaya, police said today. The demand notes signed by GNLA Finance Secretary, R Marak asked pump owners in East, West Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills districts to pay the extortion amount or face dire consequences, a senior police official said. However, some pump owners have lodged a formal complaint with the police against the GNLA.
