Meat inspection activities which were earlier undertaken by Dimapur Municipal Council would now be taken up by Veterinary department Dimapur as per directives of administrative authority issued on March 9. Notifying this, District Veterinary & AH Officer Dimapur, Dr. V. H. Shohe has informed veterinary surgeons of Veterinary Hospital Dimapur to conduct meat inspection activities from March 15 onwards in and around Dimapur town till further directive.
Meanwhile, all inspectors have also been directed to conduct both ante-mortem and post-mortem examination compulsorily in order to ensure supply of wholesome meat to consumers and non-certified meat would not be allowed to be sold in the market.
Further, all VAS attached to QCP have been advised to thoroughly examine all imported animals/birds to prevent diseased animals from entering the district. Wholesale and retail dealers including meat sellers have been requested to cooperate with the directive.
