Department of Home Guards & Civil Defence is organizing a week long disaster management awareness programme at various schools and colleges in and around Dimapur district from March 10.
Civil Defence personnel demonstrated search & rescue, first-aid and other awareness methods at the Don Bosco Higher Secondary, Dimapur on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Maongwati Aier speaking as chief guest said, whenever disasters take place, people should not panic, but have to stay calm and take up necessary actions as this was the only solution in such a situation. He said Nagaland lied in a high-risk seismic zone and people needed to prepare themselves by learning various methods for safety in times of emergency.
He also said such awareness programme was required to be conducted in the schools so that children could be trained on various safety measures and could share their experience with parents about Do’s and Don’ts during emergency.
