All Nagaland Aggrieved Ahhoc Teachers’ Association (ANAATA) has flayed the government’s decision on extension of SIT probe. A press release issued by ANAATA president Hekiye K Liriki and secretary Solomon Ennio stated that SIT had gone to each establishment and district to conduct physical verification and also called for teachers who were absent on many occasions. Therefore, the government should not make an issue of ‘Ghost’ teachers to delay the aggrieved teachers’ salaries for the last 14 months. ANAATA questioned the authenticity of education certificate verification being incomplete even after 14 months of investigations considering the latest technology available. ANAATA said non- cooperation of DIS establishment and involvement of outside pressure on the investigations were confusing and despite pleas to concerned authority there has been no response. The association also called for release of teacher’s names and establishments who were under the preview SIT investigation. It also sated that re-verification by VEC after SIT published its findings was uncalled for as VEC was not the competent authority to investigate authenticity of the teachers. Stating that non-release of 2,807 genuine teachers’ salaries after SIT investigation was unjustifiable, ANAATA demanded for probe by highest level in the central government and also assured to extend cooperation.
