The people of Zeliangrong village under ward No. 18 of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) have expressed dismay with the DMC over non-clearance of waste/garbage from the two dust bins inside the village.
A press note issued by the inhabitants of Zeliangrong village stated at both the locations, the garbage has covered almost half of the main road and that the smell emitted from the garbage was “making it difficult for the villagers to pass by”.
It also affirmed that DMC member Ningkhoun Gonmei alleged that the garbage had not been cleared since February 25 last, adding “the garbage is not only giving the village a filthy look but also serious health hazard”.
It also reminded that one of the dustbins was located in the heart of the village near government primary school while the other at Sewak road, near Faith Hospital.
Stating that the two dust bins used to be cleared daily before DMC was dissolved, it also urged the DMC to remove the garbage and to be more honest in serving the public of Dimapur.
