1 PULF killed in Manipur

Police commandos Tuesday killed a suspected activist of the People United Liberation Front (PULF) in alleged encounter at Taothong Lamkhai under Patsoi police station of Imphal West District. A .32 pistol along with an Activa Honda (MN01M-3882) were recovered from the slain suspect, police said. The yet to identified dead body has been transferred to RIMS morgue for official procedure, police said. Meanwhile, a PREPAK cadre identified as Thingam Indrajit (26) son of Ibocha of Kakching Khunou Umathel was nabbed by combined forces of Thoubal police commandos and troops of 21 Assam Rifles during a checking at tri-junction of Wabagai Market on Monday evening, at about 5.30 pm. A statement of the senior SP, Thoubal police issued today said that the arrested militant was an active member of PREPAK. Meanwhile, firing by troops of Assam Rifles in an effort to nab a militant caused panic to residents of Moreh Muslim Nagar on Wednesday. The firing occurred at about 8.15am attempting to arrest a suspected militant identified as Aftar Khan alias Yunush (25) son of late Anwar of Moreh Muslin Nagar.
