Consumer Rights Day in Zbto, Phek, Mon

World Consumer Rights Day was observed in Zunheboto, Phek and Mon on the theme ‘Be financially literate: save your investments’ on March 15. In Zunheboto, resource person Advocate Katovi Sumi said no government could be in a position to offer employment to all the people. Therefore loans were provided to individuals, societies and club to enable them to be self-dependent and self-sufficient. He added that one should feel free to approach the authority anytime and their grievances would be redressed under provision and Act given by government. In Phek, the day was organised by Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection, Phek in collaboration with Phek District Voluntary Consumer Organization (PDVCO) where Khape Koza, Addl. District & Sessions Judge, Phek & President District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum was guest speaker. Speaking on the theme topic he said consumer had a great role to play in the society and encouraged people to know rights and strive for savings and investments so as to improve economy and be financially stable. He added that consumer rights should not be used for harassing any person or groups but it should be used constructively for the benefit of the people at large. In Mon, World Consumer Day rally was organized by the department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection at GHS Mon on March 15. Addressing the rally C Yabang Pongener, Assistant Controller Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection Mon expounded on the central theme of the day. He gave brief highlights on the genesis of Consumer Rights Day, emphasizing on the need to reform consumer awareness in the district, and pointed out that that it was the special duty of teachers as they were the builders of the nation.
