Tuensang District Volunteer Consumer Organization (TDVCO) expressed dismay over the Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, Nagaland for shifting the venue for organising World Consumer Day from Tuensang to Dimapur without prior information.
A release issued by TDVCO president A Akum Yimchunger stated that Legal Metrology department had assured TDVCO of holding the state level program on March 15 at Tuensang but shifted the venue to Dimapur. Due to assurance by the department to hold the programme, TDVCO had invited NGOs, mass based civil societies, government departments and others participation, it added.
It stated that Department of Legal metrology had ignored the genuine contributions of TDVCO by remaining aloof and apathetic to it in all its essential matters stating it had nothing to with NGOs and financing such programs.
Further, it alleged that shifting of venue had damaged the reputation of Organization and requested NGOs, civil societies to bear with inconvenience, adding it would not cooperate with the department on World Consumer Day but observe the occasion in its ‘own discretional’ manner.
