Nagaland Minister for Forest and Environment MC Konyak lambasted the Opposition Congress for dragging his name again in “Singphan Wildlife Hunting issue” NPCC President I Imkong and CLP Leader Tokheho Yepthomi Tuesday while announcing the 6-hour statewide bandh in protest against the DAN Government’s corruptions also cited the “Singphan Wildlife Hunting Scam”, as one of the points. Describing the action of the opposition Congress as “most strange” in raking up the issue, the Minister, while talking to NEPS here on Wednesday, said he was completely taken aback when he came to know “Singphan issue” was one of the 10 points raised by the Congress in calling for the March 20 bandh. Recalling the “wild allegation” that he had violated Wildlife Act by killing wild animals in Singphan Reserved Forest, Konyak said the whole episode was nothing but politically motivated act meant to tarnish his public image and hamper developmental progress in the Reserved Forest. “Since it was a wild allegation, I have issued a legal notice against those who had damaged his public image,” he stated. Konyak said those involved had tendered public apology that appeared in the local papers. “So the matter ends there,” and questioned the Opposition Congress of their motive in raking up the issue again. Konyak once again sought cooperation from all sections of people towards his attempts to save and develop the forest and making it as one of the Wildlife Sanctuaries in the State.
