State government had ordered relaxation of policy in respect of recruitment of teachers under department of school education for the post of post graduate subject teachers in higher secondary schools who do not possess prescribed professional qualification.
A notification from Education Department stated that relaxation would be conditional to recruitment of candidates for appointment to post of post graduate subject teachers shall be done through Nagaland Public Service Commission and in accordance with the Service Rules, candidate must have minimum prescribed academic qualification of Post Graduate Degree in the relevant subjects with 50% aggregate marks (relaxable by 5% for ST/SC).
Every selected candidate on appointment shall undergo prescribed profession course of B.Ed and complete the course within five years in respect of candidates belonging to backward tribes of Konyak, Chang, Khiamnungam, Yimchungru, Sangtam, Phom, Chakhesang, Pochury and Zeliang and within two years in respect of other Naga tribes.
The order of relaxation should be deemed to have come into effect from the date of issue of the first notification relating to relaxation of recruitment policy dated October 27, 2008 and shall be valid for a period of ten years in respect of candidates belonging to the backward tribes of Konyak, Chang, Khiamnungam, Yimchungru, Sangtam, Phom, Chakhesang, Pochury and Zeliang and for five years in respect of the other Naga tribes.
The policy on relaxation of professional qualification for recruitment of teachers would be reviewed after Kevichüsa Committee on Reservation Policy submit its report.
