Nagaland University PGSU agitation entered second day on Friday with the students closing down NU office at Kohima campus as a sign of protest. The students asserted they would disable the administration of the university until some response comes from the NUTA and the VC.
Office bearers of the union informed that the students had completely taken over the administration and that the office would remain dysfunctional until the NUTA and VC respond to their demands. The PGSU from Kohima, Medziphema and Dimapur campuses called for a silent agitation starting Thursday demanding the NUTA and VC to settle their issues immediately and resume regular classes.
They also informed that the unions were ready to withdraw their protest if there was some reaction from the two parties. It however maintained that the unions would take further steps if nothing conclusive came about during the agitation.
Meanwhile, the PGSU SETAM campus clarified that it was not taking any sort of direct agitation and protest in the campus. PGSU SETAM campus president, Kezhochol Rhetso said in a clarification that there was no silent agitation in its campus as reported in the local dailies. It said normal classes were going on in the campus. The union, however, expressed solidarity and extended support to the students of both Kohima and SASARD campuses and appealed the concerned authorities to resume classes.
