Emergency obstetric care project launched in Litem

Mother and child project titled ‘Emergency Obstetric Care’ was launched for Litem villagers under Tuensang district. The project is initiated and sponsored by Dr. J.T Walling, Woodland Nursing Home Mokokchung Nagaland.
At a formal handing over of the project, a program was held at river bank of Pomji under Litem village where village council members led by its chairman attended the program.
The project is instituted in the name of late Temjenzulu and late Mapuinla wherein a trust fund of rupees one lakh was given for the project sponsored by Dr. J.T Walling, the younger brother of late Temjenzulu.
The main objective of the project is to save the life of mother and child where the fund will be utilized for arrangement of transportation to reach the nearest health facility in the obstetric emergencies for timely intervention.
The fund is meant for cases of pregnancy related complications like bleeding before/during/after delivery, Toxemia of pregnancy (swelling of arms and legs) prolonged labor, intrauterine, foetal death, retained placenta, other complications related to pregnancy. At the handing over program, Dr. Walling urged villagers to judiciously utilize the fund and expressed his hope that trusts fund given would grow in the days to come.
He added that if villagers utilized this project judiciously, not only Litem villagers but the whole of Noksen area will be benefited. Dr. Walling also sought cooperation of villagers in utilizing the project. He also said fund was meant for care of obstetric only and not for other ailments.
