Usutomi Village Council (UVC) has lifted the road blockade on state highway connecting Kandinu to Satakha via Saptiqua on March 18. A joint release issued by UVC chairman Hekishe Shohe and secretary Atoho Shohe stated that government had assured Usutomi village council of constructing a road connecting the village to Doyang bridge junction in order to reach Saptiqa town.
During the last MP elections in 2004 and 2009 the council had full expectations that the road would be constructed and the agenda was taken up by council members, GBS and minister for Roads and Bridges, but despite assurances, no work was taken up. An application was forwarded on February 18 to Minister for R&B, Minister for Power, Commissioner and secretary works and housing, DC Zunheboto, EE (PWD) Atoizu and contractor of Kadinu Saptiqa for information that unless work was taken up there would be a blockade and vehicular movement stopped.
The UVC blocked the road on March 18 and DC Zunheboto requested to open the blockade with assurance of road construction from the minister for R&B in a short span of time.
The UVC cautioned that it would not remain a silent spectator if the department failed to adhere to its agreement.
