State minister for urban development & higher education and NPF president Dr. Shurhozelie and state home minister Imkong L. Imchen on Saturday came under attack from Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) for making “highly irresponsible, flip-flop statements” over its bandh call. Stating that Dr. Shurhozelie and Imkong L. Imchen were not worthy of their stature, the NPCC media cell chairman Dr. K. Hoshi, in an e-mailed statement, said their statements only exposed their “confusion and nervousness.” “Their kind of leaders’ “foot in the mouth” utterances only make a mockery of sensible Naga intellects that should be condemned by one and all,” the NPCC media cell stated. The media cell of the state Congress, however, said that “100% success of the bandh” gave a befitting reply to NPF president. “He may be blind to the issues raised by the Congress party but the people of Nagaland are mature enough to be conscious of the issues of public interest,” Dr. K. Hoshi said. Further, the NPCC said Imkong L. Imchen’s illusion of “extinct Congress followers was a short-lived one that might be called his dead-wish.” In reference to Imchen’s assertion that how the Congress would be able to organize the bandh when it barely has any followers in the party, the NPCC media cell said: “His hallucination might have carried him away to see all people in Nagaland as NPF followers.” Further, the Congress remarked that it was unbecoming of a leader like him to even remotely think that a national political party that has country-wide grass-root level organizational base would have no followers.
