Oppn walkout over Municipal election

Deliberately the major political parties SPCC, BJP, CPM,SHRP today walkout from the meeting held at Chintan Bhawan which was called by the Election Commission regarding fourth coming Municipal Election in the State.
It may be recalled that Sikkim National People’s Party (SNPP) said already boycotted the coming Municipal Election, following SPCC and BJP decided to attend the meeting on 22 March in their 19 March Press Release. Only three political parties Sikkim Sangram Parishad SSP, Gorkha Rajya Party remained back along with the ruling SDF party, rest made a sweep walkout.
The decision besieges once all parties will meet Election Commission on March 22 and place issues and concerns, was told in their release.
If the commission will accept our issue, we will wait for the corrective measures and if our view points are not accepted or given satisfactory replies then we shall give a decision whether to go for election or not on the same evening, was said by the SPCC president Nar Bahadur Bhandari.
“Our main issue is the extensive encroachment into rural area by the delimitation for the municipal elections.” He stressed that the party would be announcing its decision on March 22 during the meet with Election Commission, was told by the BJP president Padam Chettri for a 22 March meeting.
All Sikkim political parties meeting was chaired by the Election Commission Department Secretary Pratap Tiwari, the Secretary condemned any alteration to the schedule of election other than 27 April.
