Disaster management training at Phek
DIMAPUR: Department of Civil Defence and Homeguards Phek will be organizing a weeklong training on Civil Defence and Disaster Management/Causes & Preparedness for Earthquake from March 23 at Block level, Town level and NCC cadets. ADC Phek, Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe would grace the town level training as chief guest while EAC Phek, Andrew would be the resource person. The training programme would include demonstration on Emergency method of Rescue, First Aid and Use of Fire Extinguisher.
KGSU meeting postponed
DIMAPUR: The Kuhuboto Ghakhu Students’ Union (KGSU) has postponed the meeting scheduled on March 23 to March 27 at 10am at KGPO Hall due to some unavoidable circumstances. Botoi V. Yeptho, president KGSU has requested all the GBs, council members, advisors and executives to attend the meeting.
Dimapur: Akuluto Area Union Dimapur (AAUD)has called for an emergency meeting on March 23 at 7:30 am at its banker’s residence 5th mile. The union has informedall office bearers, senior members, advisors and village representatives attend the meeting.
MVC on designated camps
DIMAPUR: Mekokla Village Council (MVC) in press note issued by its chairman L Yansathung Kikon and secretary Njanbemo Yanthan stated that in a general meeting held on January 28, it was decided that in the interest of the village it was declared that no designated camp of any faction of the GPRN/NSCN would be allowed in the village jurisdiction unless directed by the government of India.
USSC urges Super travels to resume
KOHIMA: In connection with the incident that occurred to Super Travel at Changki area on March 2, the United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has appealed to Super Travel Services to resume its service within the USSC jurisdiction. The USSC said that as per the Sangtam Students’ Union Longkhim Town directives, the owner of the bus had made compensation to all the victims and that there had been amicable compromise between the two parties by the USSC. Therefore, the union appealed to the travel service to resume its service without hesitation.
KBKK conducts seminar
KOHIMA: With the objective of sensitizing and equipping youths with knowledge on disaster management, the Kohima Baptist Khriesarüü Krotho (KBKK) organized a seminar on disaster risk management at Immanuel Baptist Church Kohima on March 18. Dr. Hovithal Sothu and Er. Moa were the resource persons. Altogether 33 youths from LBC, MHBC, IBC and MBC attended the seminar.
KLCSU urges VC to settle agitation
KOHIMA: Kohima Law College Students’ Union (KLCSU) has urged the Nagaland University authority to settle the ongoing agitation of the PGSU immediately. A release by the union stated that examination of the LLB students was due on March 25, and added that the examination would be hindered if the PGSU continued its agitation. The union cautioned that the VC would be held liable if their examination was hindered and that the students would be allowed to pass their examination with the pass percentage of not less that 50% in aggregate.
CPO on recruitment drive
DIMAPUR: Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) stated that the Gauhati High Court Bench has issued a restraining order on the NPSC not to proceed beyond written examination in regard to the recruitment advertisement no 4 2009-2010 dated 12.2.10 and a PIL filed by CPO represented Advocate Anghsuman Sarma put an embargo on the selection process. A press note issued by CPO general secretary stated that the government vide a notification had changed the Backward Tribe status of the Chakhesang for which the CPO moved the High court challenging the notification that reduced the backward status of Chakhesang, Zeliang and Pochury, discriminating against their rightful share. Therefore, the NPSC has been directed by the court not to proceed beyond the examination stage.
Training on disaster management
DIMAPUR: A five-day training on disaster management, organized by deputy controller, civil defence and district commandant, Home Guards, Mokokchung would be held at Ongpangkong Salang from March 23. According to an official bulletin, the comprehensive training programme has been chalked out to impart training to government officials, Church leaders, NCC, Scouts and Guides from various schools and village functionaries.

DIMAPUR: Poumai Hoho Dimapur (PHD) has convened a consultative meeting on April 3 at Poumai Baptist Church complex, 5th Mile. The Hoho has requested all members to attend the meeting.
