The Rural Village Visitation Committee constituted by the Kohima DPDB for 8th Western Angami A/C visited Dzülekie village on March 20.
The committee comprised of SDO (C) Sechü Zubza, Akunu S. Meyase as Convenor, E.E, Irrigation, Er. Hotovi Sumi, District Statistical Officer, Lhoulabeituo, BDO, Kohima, P. Koza and District Evaluation Officer, Disuang Zeme as members. Medical officer, Khonoma, Dr. Keviyanei also joined the team as co-opted member.
According to an official bulletin, the objective of the programme was to generate awareness of the DPDB among the villagers, to help create awareness and improve lives of villagers in areas of healthcare, education, village economy etc and also create an opportunity for DPDB members to see the living condition in the rural areas, interact and explore ways and means to extend possible help, guidance and assistance.
The rural village visit was an initiative and part of ‘Year of Capacity Building’ programme.
The committee held a meeting with the villagers at the Fisheries Guest House located on the Fisheries Riverine Project at Dzülekie, where all Village Council Members, VDB, women leaders and public leaders participated.
During the meeting SDO (C), Sechü-Zubza dwelled on the importance and need of a correct and honest census figures and urged the village to extend co-operation during Census 2011 operation for which groundwork was already in progress. She also spoke on the Right to Information Act and encouraged the village to use the powers enshrined by it in order to have a transparent and strong government.
BDO, Kohima spoke on various CSS schemes and programmes implemented by the department including IAY, NREGA, GIA etc and urged the formation of SHG to extend assistance through the department.
District Statistical Officer enlightened the house on the functioning of his department mainly in the recording of life and death statistics and requested the village to furnish correct data while filling of the village level department indicator data.
E.E. Irrigation spoke on the proper and systematic usage of water and informed that a new project at Harvesting Point ‘Teneru’ was proposed in the pipeline during 2009-2010 and urged the village to form water user association for more effective functioning and assistance from the department.
MO, Khonoma gave a talk on the importance of immunization and the Janani Suraksha Yojna wherein new guidelines of the scheme was being implemented. District Evaluation Officer underlined the functioning of the department.
The team also held an interactive session with the villagers and discussed various topics while getting to know the problems and grievances faced by the village.
The officers assured to look into the problem of drinking water, medical coverage, teachers and other departments. The team also distributed gifts to all the students in the Government Primary School and also donated an amount towards the Village Council to furnish the guest house.
