Thahekhu Village Council (TVC) celebrated its golden jubilee at village local ground on March 15. The celebration also coincided with village foundation day on the same day. The village was established in 1951 however the village council came into being in 1960.
With “Selfless service to society” as the theme of the jubilee, Hukiye Yeptho head GB unveiled the jubilee monolith and Tovito Aye GB hoisted the village council flag. Rev. Phughoto Aye, Director, Fire and Wind Ministries and Rev. Dr. Hevekhu Achumi, Director, Sumi Baptist Convention offered prayers to invoke blessing from God Almighty. Vitohe Chishi, VDB Secretary conducted monolith unveiling and flag hosting ceremony.
The main celebration was held later in the day and during which Y. Hewoto Awomi, MLA and Hokiye K. Yepthomi, head GB, Khehokhu village and Advisor, Western Sumi Hoho spoke on the occasion and shared jubilee greetings. They focused on the need to introspect the pass and for prevalence of unity and social harmony in the village. They paid respect to all those people who sacrificed and shouldered the responsibility to provide good administration in the village in the form of Thahekhu Village Council in the last 50 years. They further felicitated all the past chairmen and secretaries to the TVC.
Souvenir published to mark the event was released by the head GB of the village. Rev. Dr. Yehevi Jimo, pastor Thahekhu Baptist Church prayed for jubilee blessings to be upon the villagers. Cultural presentation by the jubilant villagers added flavor to the celebration. All seven blocks of the village took part in various cultural items.
The main celebration programme was chaired by Yekheto Aye, Chairman TVC and recorded by Heloto Anche, Secretary TVC. Rev. Inaho Swu, Pastor, Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church said the invocation prayer and Kakheho Yeptho, Advisor, TVC delivered the welcome address. Youth of Thahekhu Baptist Church presented special number. Mughavi Chishi, member village council presided the proceeding of souvenir presentation. TVC chairman proposed the vote of thanks and Rev. Henije Zhimo, pastor, Niuland Town Sumi B/C pronounced the benediction.
A jubilee feast was shared at the conclusion of the celebration following a feast prayer offered by Rev. Thilihe Yeptho, pastor I/C TBC Block-7.
