The Elken International India Pvt Ltd on Wednesday conducted a seminar “Water- The essence of life” at Hotel Japfu, Kohima with minister for PHED, Dr. Ngangshi K. Ao as chief guest and Michael R. Long, certified Water Specialist VI(Highest Rank) as resource person.
In his address, Dr. Ngangshi K. Ao appreciated Elken in expanding itself within a short period of time and even having a base in Nagaland.
Commenting on the ‘Look East Policy’ of India, he said northeast is now a gate way and corridor to expand economy to South and East Asia and urged people to take full advantage of the policy. Stating that DAN government declared 2010-2011 as year of entrepreneurs, the minister also expressed the need to export the products rather than import.
Resource person, Michael R. Long, certified Water Specialist VI(Highest Rank), author and international lecturer, responsible for Seoul Summer Olympics Games in use of RO system said with the UN declaration of March 22 as “World water day” the attention and the awareness level have gained tremendously all over the world.
Briefing on the UN report, the water specialist explained that a child died from water related disease every 15 seconds and 1.8 million children die due to contaminated water related diseases.
Delivering key note address Tham Thuck Hong, senior vice president, international operation Kuala Lumpur said Elken Company was started in 1995 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with Rs.15 crores and now stood at Rs. 500 crores.
