A-week long training on “livelihood based training programme for development of integrated farming system in different water management regions” is being organized by KVK Dimapur, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema from March 22 to 29 for farmers of Malvom and Bungsang. A total of 55 farmers are participating in the training
Chairman, Sonukhochon appealed farmers to concentrate and learn as much as possible. Dr. Anamika Sharma, Programme Coordinator, KVK Dimapur, in her welcome address briefed on the importance of rain water harvesting and recycling of rain water. Dr. Anamika said farmers totally depended on the rain for cultivation of different crops and moisture stress affects the second crop after paddy.
Around 28 sessions were organized on different aspects including integrated farming system, sloping agriculture land technology, soil erosion and control measures, livestock- an important component of watershed development, role of horticulture in sustainable development, piggery management, integrated fish culture, poultry management, package and practices of important crops of Nagaland.
Resource persons were invited from School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD), Medziphema, Subject Matter Specialists from KVK Dimapur and Wokha, ICAR Research Complex, Nagaland Centre, The participants would visit KVK Hillock farm as well as ICAR Research Farm during the training.
