Ruling NPF-led DAN candidate and sitting Rajya Sabha MP, Khekiho Zhimomi retained the lone seat from the state by defeating Congress candidate, Imdanglemla Aier by a margin of 22 votes. The election was held on Friday. Returning officer & secretary NLA, A.E. Lotha said in a statement that a total of 59 ballots were cast, of which Khekiho polled 40 votes while Imdanglemla Aier secured 18 votes. One vote was found invalid. Congress MLA Nungshizenba could not turn up for voting as he was indisposed and currently under medical treatment in New Delhi. The tenure of Khekiho would come to an end by April 2, 2016. Meanwhile, INC candidate, Imdanglemla congratulated Khekiho Zhimomi on his re-election to the Rajya Sabha. She called upon Khekiho to cut across party politics and selflessly work for the good of the Naga people and for the development of the state, in a consultative manner. She thanked the Congress party for providing her the privilege and honour to represent the party. She further thanked all friends, colleagues and well wishers for their prayers and support.
