Stolen goods recovered

Stolen goods worth Rs 40 lakhs were recovered by Dimapur police from a residence at Daragojan village Thursday night and picked up 11 persons in the process.
It may be mentioned that goods consisting of electrical items including telecom hardware and machineries were stolen from an Imphal bound truck (AS 01BC-5471) from Guwahati on March 19 last from Chumukedima area after miscreants accosted the vehicle and later dumped the truck at 6th mile.
According to police, the investigation started off with almost no clue behind the incident. However, based on some rough and vague descriptions given by the drivers, a search operation led by SDPO Dimapur and SDPO Niuland was launched in suspected areas.
Based on reliable reports, some houses were raided behind NEZCC on Thursday evening where some of the stolen items like inverters and batteries were recovered.
The same night, some houses in Daragojan village were raided. Almost all the remaining goods were recovered from the residence of one person identified as Alleng Tangkhul.
Police said that the goods were well concealed and stacked in and around the house. While 11 suspected persons were picked up by the police for questioning, the main suspect, Allen Tangkhul was still at large till the time of filing this report.
Sources confirmed that some persons from the Meitei community were also involved in the robbery and added that the handlers in Guwahati and Imphal might also be involved.
Meanwhile, in a delayed report, a victim from Lumding who was abducted in Dimapur was released by his captors, three days after one of them was shot dead by the police. The victim, who was traumatized by the entire episode, managed to reach Furkating railway station and contacted his relatives who further informed the police and brought him back to Dimapur.
Giving an entire account of the incident, the victim disclosed to the police that a female phone pal had invited him to Dimapur. The female abducted him from Signal Basti after making him unconscious.
