Promoting healthy, safe drinking water

: Kuala Lumpur based multinational company Elken, on Saturday conducted a programme at NH-39, Go Karting, to promote safe and healthy drinking water. Business partners of the company and other officials of the company attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Editor Nagaland Post Geoffrey Yaden said drinking water that was safe and healthy has become a prime need in a society becoming more health conscious .Stating that sixty percent of a person’s body weight was water, the chief guest pointed out the need to replenish body fluid with safe and healthy water. He said ground water sources through wells were getting contaminated with chemicals and other bacteria etc which conventional methods of boiling or filtration through candles could not eliminate. He said drinking safe and healthy water prevents many related diseases and would also save time and money on treatment and that Elken’s Reverse Osmosis technology provided not only safe but healthy drinking water.
Encouraging the teams to spread awareness on the benefits of Elken, the chief guest said people can make up for the cost of buying Elken’s Bio-Pure which they would be spending for buying bottled water for one year.
Expressing confidence that the reputation of trust and reliability by Elken would stand in good stead over other competitors, Geoffrey also hoped the local teams would be imparted with practical skills in marketing and other essentials. He also lauded Elken team Tham Tuck Hoong (Sr. vice president Sales and Marketing), Michael R. Long (Sr.vice president Manufacturing) and Eleken India CEO Sandip Misra for visiting some districts to create awareness on safe and healthy drinking water. Certified Water Specialist (VI) Micheal R Long gave a power point presentation on what water was all about. He asserted that the water was an old substance which has been continuing since ages and there was no such thing as ‘new water’.
Cautioning that the world was facing serious crisis of providing quality drinking water, he quoted from a UN report that every fifteen second a child was dying of water related diseases. It may be mentioned that according to a World Bank report 88% of the diseases were caused due to unsafe drinking water while another report claimed that 500 million tons of heavy metals, solvents and toxic waster were seeping into fresh drinking water, which is estimated to be just 1 percent out total of 3 percent of fresh water available in the world.
Stating that water is the engine and liquid essence of life, Micheal expressed concern over the recent findings of drugs in drinking water all over the world. At the same time he pointed out that some of the bottled water is also contaminated. He also gave a brief presentation on the various methods used to purify water.
Informing that the Bio Pure filter of Elken has won several accolades like SIRIM of Malaysia, PSB of Singapore, WQA of Asia etc, Michael urged the gathering to spread awareness on the benefits of Bio Pure. Delivering the keynote address, senior vice president Tham Thuck Hong (International Operations), Kuala Lumpur informed about the company profile and the range of products they dealt with.
