The VDB union R.D Chukitong block under Wokha district had unanimously resolved to stand against any political interference with regard to BRGF scheme in future.
According to a release issued by V.D.B and VC Union, Chukitong block, chairman, Ezanimo Kikon and secretary, Tongphio Ezung, the union held an emergency meeting at Hotel Nili on February 25 with regard to BRGF scheme and conducted detailed verification of the 2007-08 BRGF scheme as it remained “controversial” due to various “political interference” and that fifty percent (50%) of the fund was deducted from the V.D.B account by “individual” through “political interference” where the amount went “wasted” without any developmental work done so far.
It further directed those individuals who took 50% of the BRGF amount through political pressure during 2007-08 not to undertake any developmental work at the village but withdraw the fund as “their pocket money”. Union also voiced out against the misuse of the BRGF by some few individual, as the fund had been sanctioned by the government to undertake developmental work for rural masses “but not only for few individuals with political power”.
Further, the union has informed one and all that the work order issued through VDB account should not be permitted to any individual or contractor to interfere in any manner, with an aim to uplift the developmental activities and to safeguard the rights and welfare of the poor rural masses.
