Tokheho responds

Congress Friday described “corruption” in DAN government as “day to day routine and normal activities” ever since it came to power in Nagaland. According to Congress, irregularities in DAN government included fraudulent drawals in DIS office Longleng in 2006, bogus appointment of teachers, pension fraudulent drawals, sugar mill VRS scam, NPSC answer swamping cases, disposal of 50,000 MT coal to Punjab and many others. In a point-to-point rebuttal to allegations made by NPF press bureau, the CLP leader Tokheho Yepthomi counter-alleged that burden of DAN government was “too heavy” as the deficit has crossed more than Rs. 700 crore as against Rs.1500 crore for 2009-2010 plan allocation by GoI. Reiterating on 6th ROP, the CLP leader said DAN government had sought financial assistance from the center, upon which the GoI agreed to provide advance plan assistance to the tune of Rs. 400 crore to implement the 6th pay commission recommendation. “However, due to reason best know to him, the chief secretary refused to accept it,” Tokheho said. Renewing his attack on retirement issue, he queried how retirement issue was dragged from high court to Supreme Court if government consulted all section of society and civil societies. Admitting that he was a part of government under Neiphiu Rio, the CLP leader, however, said that he resigned Nov 27, 2007 as he could not continue with the party where there was no vision, programmes and policy for the people.
