Karbonn Mobiles and FIH join hands for Hero Honda World Cup

Karbonn Mobiles, a company that redefines mobility with its wide range of attractively priced multimedia phones, announced its association with the International Hockey Federation (FIH) as Major Partner for the Hero Honda FIH World Cup Delhi 2010. The Hero Honda FIH World Cup Delhi 2010, to be held in New Delhi from 28th February to 13th March 2010, promises to be the biggest hockey event ever staged in India with television coverage across 150 countries on all the five continents. The event will witness twelve of the top teams of the world competing for the crowning glory in the sport of men’s hockey in a tournament spanning 38 matches. Speaking on the occasion, Leandro Negre, President, FIH said, “FIH is delighted that an upcoming mobile phone brand like Karbonn is associating with the Hero Honda FIH World Cup Delhi 2010. This edition of the World Cup promises to be bigger and better than ever and it is apt that a country like India, with its rich hockey tradition, is playing host to this gala event. We are sure that this will go a long way in promoting hockey in India so that it can compete with other sports in the country on an equal footing with help from private entities and corporates like Karbonn Mobiles.” Karbonn Mobiles, launched in March 2009, is the one of the fastest growing mobile brand in the country complemented by a comprehensive portfolio of mobile phones with an array of features. The company is a joint venture between Delhi based Jaina Group and Bangalore based UTL Group. Jaina Group currently has over 350 employees and a network of 28 domestic and overseas branches actively engaged in the mobile phone business with a turnover of around Rs. 1000 crores. The UTL Group is a multi division telecom powerhouse with interests that span across manufacturing, services and distribution. Karbonn Mobiles also unveiled its latest range of devices for the Indian market consisting of two devices – K500 and KC425 – that are equipped with the latest features at attractive price points. The Karbonn K500, available at a Market Operating Price of Rs. 3290/-, is a dual band, dual SIM multimedia phone, equipped with motion sensing technology. The Karbonn KC425 is the company’s latest offering on the CDMA platform. It is a stylish flip phone with great features complementing its great design and will be available at a Market Operating Price of Rs. 2990/-. Karbonn Mobiles revealed that it has achieved the landmark of 3 million devices in India, since the launch of the brand in March 2009. The company has also announced its plans to foray into the high growth markets of Africa and Middle East within the second quarter of the next fiscal and has already completed the setting up of operations in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
