Except Thilixu village, the other seven affected villages/landowners in the plane sector of the proposed North Frontier Railway (NFR) railway project from Dimapur-Zubza have unanimously agreed upon a common rate of Rs 60 per square feet for land compensation. The decision was arrived at a meeting of the landowners and villages of the seven villages at Hotel Tragopan, Dimapur, Monday. Addressing media persons, NFR convener, T. Shuya said that the landowners have decided to submit a representation to the chief minister and chief secretary for intimation with the competent authorities to immediately prepare for payment of the compensation. To carry forward the issue, the landowners also formed a committee known as Affected Landowners’ Committee NFR for the plane sector, i.e, from Thahekhu-Chumukedima. The landowners have urged the government to immediately take up the matter and release the compensation at the earliest. Stating that the ball has now been set in the government’s court for early start of the project, the landowners said they would not be held responsible if the project cannot be completed. They have also urged the state government to separately negotiate with the Thilixu village on the rate for the land compensation. The eight affected villages include; Thahekhu, Kuda, Toulazouma, Thilixu, Sovima/Singrijan, Virazouma, Tenyiphie 2 and Chumukedima.
