DIMAPUR: Community dairy project at New Socünoma was launched at New Socünoma on February 27 under White Revolution Project
The dairy project was launched with minister for Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, T.R Zeliang where the minister cut the ribbon at the launching site and performed a symbolic handing over of a tethered cow to Dr. Rovi Zhünyü, a self employed veterinarian who is the manager of Hope Dairy Farm and also the chairman of Open Dairy Cooperative Society, New Socünoma, affiliated to Dimapur District Milk Producers Cooperative Union Ltd.
The ceremony was followed by a program jointly organised by Nagaland State Dairy Cooperative Federation Ltd and the Dairy Community of New Socünoma village at the farm site under the leadership of Dr L.S. Moses, managing director, NSDCF Ltd. The highlight of the project was clearly communicated across to the villagers and the dairy community by Dr. A. Yhokha, project director, NSDCF Ltd.
T.R Zeliang in his address to the villagers and the dairy community called for encouraging one another to press forward for success and also acknowledged the responsibilities involved in dairy farming. He stressed on the importance of related activities like fodder cultivation, free grazing space, block fencing etc. so as to develop the occupation efficiently in a large scale and shared success stories of dairy farming in the European countries.
Meanwhile, the society thanked the veterinary department and also the Nagaland State Dairy Cooperative Federation Ltd. for selecting Hope Dairy Farm, a community based group enterprise at New Socünoma as a unit to implement the popular government program called Community Dairy Project under White Revolution Project.
