GOC-in-chief eastern command arrives today

Chief Of Army Staff designate, Lt Gen V.K. Singh, currently the GOC-in-chief Eastern Command who is on a two-day visit to Manipur and Nagaland, would arrive Nagaland March 4 (today). It maybe be mentioned that Gen Singh will soon be taking charge as the next Army Chief on March 31. According to a defense release, the army commander would visit HQ Spear Corps, where he would be briefed on operational and other aspects. Lt Gen V.K. Singh, who is accompanied by his wife Bharti Singh, FWO eastern command regional president and GOC 3 Corps Lt Gen N.K. Singh will depart for Kohima by service helicopter the same day, where they would visit IGAR (N). Gen Singh would also interact with state governor Nikhil Kumar and chief minister Neiphiu Rio. Later, Gen Singh will leave for Dimapur and thereafter to Kolkata. Earlier, on Wednesday the army commander visited Manipur where he was also briefed on operational and other aspects by the IGAR (S) and GOC Red Shield Division.
