DC Dimapur at district magistrates’ conference

The conference of district magistrates on Census of India 2011 and preparation of the National Population Register was held on March 4 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The conference was addressed by union home minister P Chidambaram. He pointed out that the national population register was an important event which was never tried before. According to Deputy commissioner Maongwati Aier who also attended the conference in a press statement said that union home minister interacted with all district magistrates of the country and stated that universal coverage and timely completion of the national population register will depend on the motivation and performance of all the district magistrates’ who were also the principal census officer of the country. The census of India 2011 will be the 15th census in the country and the 7th after the independence. It will mark a milestone as the national population register will also be prepared, which will create a comprehensive identity database in the country and improve planning to a great extend.
